A fellow pumpkin grower from Iowa is planning a fishing trip in Thunder Bay and has an issue with fish bait and is wondering if anyone can give him a hand. He's looking for a contact in Thunder Bay if anyone is interested in helping out. Thanks Zeke His name is Dan Carlson email: pumpkinmandan@gmail.com text: 563-242-0749

Final stats are out. Congrats to team #1 Phil Hunt, Art Johnston and Noah DeVisser. They ended up on top Check the 2022PB tab. 13 people out of 24 grew a new PB! I hope everybody had fun and we can do it again next year. Thanks Zeke

If you got good seeds from someone, (and if you are a GVGO member I'm sure you did) it doesn't matter how big your tomato is you can keep seeds and the genetics will be there. I was talking to a friend today and he was using the fermentation method to save seeds. That works okay but there are easier methods. I use the trisodium phosphate....what!

I know it's tough for a new grower and even worse for an accomplished grower to weigh a tomato that isn't that big but this competition will probably decided by 1/2 lb. Last year there was a lot of people that didn't weigh a tomato and most of them were accomplished growers that hadn't grown tomatoes before. I know of 2 growers that had 2+ lb tomatoes and didn't weigh them because they thought they'd get bigger and didn't weigh anything. Bottom line is weigh everything. If I don't win but we weighed 6 tomatoes...hey we did our best. If we only weighed 4 tomatoes that sucks. I'm sure the top growers on here will agree and hopefully respond.

Getting bored so I thought I'd start my new diary. Saved some seeds out of some clemintines... clemantines...clementines... dang, tangerines I ate last week. Soaked them overnight in a Fa solution. Going to see if I can get them to sprout.

Congrats to all the growers at Port Elgin today. Huge results especially the pumpkins, tomatoes and beets. Two real close to the Canadian records for beets and another one for pumpkins!

So far 19 tomatoes have been weighed for a total of 65 lbs. 4 teams haven't weighed one yet. If you want the stats emailed to you and don't get them this time around it's because I don't have your email.
