I have had them split and dry up too. I now have a celery flowering too. Wacky. It has been cold, hot, wet then dry. Oh well whatever happens, happens.
Little more carrot insight please Brad or others😕...
What about a split carrot?. Is that the beginning of the end or will it continue to grow??...Tried to keep watering even, but weather had different plans😔...help appreciated.
Sorry about that. Been sick for a few days. Yes, some do bolt. Usually due to fluctuations in temperature or moisture. A cold snap or a hot spell will do that, though carrots are less prone to do that than beets, for example. There will be little to no growth once they have started flowering. It doesn't help to cut off the flowers, the carrot can't be tricked. You can either let it go to seed or pull it. Quite unusual though.

Thanks Brad...will roll the dice and leave it then🤔, thanks.
Split carrots tend to rot, but not always. I have had them split open and dry up and be fine.

Thanks Brad. It sounds like a good time to pull it.

Hi Whiz
I thought Brad might have chipped in on this discussion & give us his opinion of why this is happening. Maybe I'll email him.
Good luck Jeff.

I have one doing the same. Not sure why though. I have grown quiet a few of these and this has never happened yet.
