Congrats Dan on your big win & your new PB. Thanks also for giving our seed a chance. Wish we could have been there, but moose season takes 1st priority.
Thanks Dan. It has a great shape to it. Our 1959 also started to cantaloupe @ day 35. Our growth rate also dropped off to under 20# per day. Hopefully both our kins go very heavy come weigh off day.
I'm curious as to how many growers gave the 1959 Hunt seed a chance? If you did, how is it doing for you? Shoot me an email at janephilhunt@gmail.com & let me know. Thanks.
sorry for dark pic been working long hours I will send a better pic on Monday when measure again , we had a nice rain last nite and this morning which i hope everyone got the 1959Hunt fruit is still moving towards the sticks it started to canalope over about day 30 and thumps solid which means nothing to me as I have never had one go heavy, the virus is spreading but slowly I cut about 3 or 4 leaves off a nite I will take a pic of that also and post on Monday
Hey Dan. Good to hear your 1959 Hunt pumpkin is producing you a good one. Hopefully you can keep it growing. Your ahead of our pumpkin last year at day 50, so keep up the great work. Lots of time before Wellington. Could we see our 1st 2,000#er? We're cheering for you. Thanks for giving our seed a chance.
Well it looks like the 1959 plant has mosaic virus I have 6 vines still growing and 3 of them the tips have it so I cut them off and everything that doesn’t look good off the rest of the plant looks great and fruit is at day 50 and measures just under 1200 lbs, the one good thing is the plant covers about 1500 square ft so hopefully I will get a few more pounds before it shuts down, I noticed tonite that even my apple tree leaves seem to look like they have it, any pig weed I see has it also. Oh well can’t worry about what you can’t control
Nice looking pumpkin Dan. Glad to hear the 1959 is doing well for you.
Glad to hear you got a rain. We sure could use some rain here in Dry Gulch (Cameron). We haven't got a decent rain in many weeks. They seem to just miss us for some reason. Already buying water.
We had our first good rain last nite plants are doing well been working 11 hour days so it’s been a lot of late nites in the patch I think I will take next year off and spend more time with the grand kids.
