Other than growing tomato's that you buy as a plant this is really new to me. When would be good dates to start the seeds? And for us rookie growers is there any helpful suggestions to make this new adventure an easier one?

Thanks

If you are growing tomatoes for an October weigh-off then you don't have to start them until late May into early June. If you are just growing for an early entry then you can start them much earlier but it also depends on your local spring and fall weather conditions.

OK another question when growing giants how many trusses do you leave on. Next
how many  tomatoes do you leave on each truss. Last year was my first attempt and
i was pleased with  2lb tom. Must thank the club for the seed as i wouldn't have tried my luck other wise. Now like the pumpkins i'm getting hooked on growing toms, so thank you all again.

If by trusses you mean flower clusters then only one per cluster and usually there is one blossum that stands out with a thicher stalk and larger fruit than the others. I usually only allow one or two fruits in total per plant.
