I remember this thread from last year:

http://gvgo.ca/mb/index.php?topic=1141.0

Things are a little different this year it seems.  Many of us are way ahead of last year.  My sidtuation doesn't really count cause I grew home depot seeds laugh

I am happy to say, not only will I have a 400 pounder for Aug 1st but I will have a 500 pounder too!
I can only dream of what this means if I can keep em together and healthy.

Yes, what a difference a year makes! Things looked pretty bleak in the patch last year at this time. Things really did turn around with a great August/September and I ended up with a new personal best. Things are going better then well this year. Let's hope things hold together and the weather stays good.

Just doing some quick math, Chris your 901 has averaged 11.42 lbs. per day and a whopping 37.5 lbs. per day from July 24-26. Maxima, your big one averaged 15.75 lbs. per day, all I can say is it's going to be a helluva a ride for you guys, hope the stars line up for you. Glenn, you are obviously sitting on a monster as well, I didn't see a diary, good luck to you all.

My goal @ the start of this year with 4 plants was to get 2 respectable kins to a weighoff. After experiencing a stem split and hearing about the million other ways to loose a fruit I just hope to have one.  I am not emotionally prepared to end the season with nothing. If I do, look for some good deals on Kijiji.  Hahahaha

Hey Carl

our 1678 pumpkin was only 92.5" Cir on day 30 (July 30). It was so small, we only did the Cir. Our next measurement was on day 41 (Aug 9th) & it had a Cir of 129.5" & an ott of 296.5". By Day 50 it had a Cir of 152" & an ott of 340.5". Lots of time left Our biggest gains were between day 40 & day 50. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info Phil.Looking at all these 400lb pumpkins going into aug sure makes a fella feel like he will never catch up.John and i are still trying to grow a respectable plant here while most growers are at the end of their patch and pretty much termed but looking at your # from last year ,maybe there is still hope.Good luck. Its been a great spring so far!!  Its July 30th and I last measured on wednesday and she was sitting at 119 CC approx 430 lbs  its the BIGGEST pumpkng ive EVER grown, Last years patch tour was my first after seeing how much room these giants actually need I truned my 6x8 garden  into a 25x30 garden and let one plant grow,  mY jaw drops every time I mesure it is just amazing how fast these suckers can grow in just 30 days!! With still another 60 days to go  I cant wait to see what she will weight  Shocked, I already have plans on expanding my patch yet again to 45 ft across x 30 feet out and growing 2 plants next year, One plant is allot of work and also alot of stress at the same time as I ONLY got one fruit and if she blows its game over at least with 2 fruits if one blows I still got another LOL.

I sure hope Phil is on the money with his prediction.....My 901 is behind the 1678's pace although this is just about the largest fruit I have ever had before at such an early calendar date..... It is also well short of the benchmark on day 40.....I just hope that the early pollination, combined with kelp, CO2, unobtainium and the other growth enhancers, continue the longevity of the weight gain curve as we saw with Phil & Jane's fruit last year....All indications are that we can all keep up the growth curve well into September....I have begun to use product R and like the results....I have recently reduced the use of CO2 to a 14 day interval....I'm waiting for the next application to be based upon the approach of the next warm front....

My 901 fruit is rather precarious on the end of the ribbon vine at 9'. It needs some constant tending to the stem area due to a few horizontal cracks and a newly discovered stem split..... the area needs to be cleaned, disinfected and repasted daily....

Overall I can't say its been great so far.....there is however much hope of better days to follow......Major weight gain days are coming......

There are at least two in Holland (way) over 400 lbs already. One is in a greenhouse and one outside and neither are mine...  Mine should hit 40 lbs by Aug. 1.

Definitely won't hit 400...but a 340 ott is fine by me too at the end of July...pest pressures are on now, and growth will undoubtedly slow. 100+ days is a long time to be on the vine, way too much can happen, so I'm not overly excited about this predicament...but i am willing to take one for the team and see how long we can keep them moving;)

Happy growing
